Getting Started On MySpace
November 30, 2007
MySpace is an online community which offers members the tools they need to create a website for other members of the community to view.
MySpace also hosts these websites and provides search features which enables visitors to find information about particular members or members who have certain hobbies.
Opening a MySpace Account
The process of opening a MySpace account is fairly simple and takes place almost instantly.
Members who wish to join the online community only have to provide some basic information and agree to the terms of service to be granted membership.
The basic information which is required to request membership is a full name, a valid email address and a password containing alpha and numeric characters.
After supplying this information and checking a box which states you agree to the terms of service your application process is complete.
You are then sent an email with a welcome letter and a link which will activate your account. You only need to click on this link and enter your email address and password to activate your account.
Understanding the Terms of Service
Reading and agreeing to the terms of service is required for membership to the MySpace community but members should review these terms regularly and should be sure they understand all of the terms.
This is important because violation of these terms could result in the member’s account being deleted or legal action being taken against the individual. Some of the highlights of the terms of service are:
* Members must be at least 14 years of age and must report their age accurately.
* Members are responsible for keeping their password secret and reporting suspected cases of others using their password.
* Commercial use of MySpace is prohibited unless prior authorization from MySpace is received.
* Users must not publish any copyrighted materials on their website without permission.
* Members may not post content which is prohibited by the terms of service.
Designing a MySpace Website
The process of designing a MySpace website is one of the most exciting parts of membership for many. It is also one of the most complicated part of the membership.
However, it is not incredibly difficult and even those with limited HTML or other design skills can create a great website.
MySpace members have a great deal of control over the appearance and content of their website. They are only limited by their own design skills. The homepage for your MySpace account features the following links:
* Edit Profile
* Account Settings
* Add/Edit Photos
* Add/Change Videos
* Manage Calendar
* Manage Blog
* Manage Address Book
The “Edit Profile” section is the one which allows members to add the bulk of the content to their profile.
This section is broken down into subcategories such as interests & personality, name, basic info, background & lifestyle, schools, companies, networking and profile songs.
Some of these subcategories, such as the interests & personality section, contain titles with text boxes where members can add text and HTML code to modify the appearance of their website.
During the design process, members can preview either individual sections or the entire profile.
Other sections, such as the background and lifestyle section, have a series of questions where members can supply answers with pull down menus or radial buttons.
These features make it easy for members to supply basic information about themselves in a quick and easy fashion.
They only have to answer the questions and MySpace integrates the answers into the design of the website.
Back End Affiliate Marketing
November 27, 2007
Within affiliate marketing, everyone involved in the
program will benefit.
Each time the affiliate refers a visitor to the website of the merchant, he will earn
income.
On the other end, the merchant will produce
sales without spending a lot of money for advertising
and promotion.
With the goal being to earn more income, both the
affiliate and the merchant should be considering the
practice of back end selling in their business.
Back selling is a great and well known support for affiliate
marketing, as it can greatly comment the income that
is produced from affiliate marketing.
Back end selling is the selling that’s conducted after
the inital sale.
When a visitor becomes a paying customer for a product,
another product can then be advertised and sold to the exact
same customer, with the second product being called the
back end product.
Now, the customer will already be aquainted with
the merchant or affiliate, meaning that is already
a level of trust between them.
Therefore, selling the back end product may actually
be easier than the initial sale.
For many years, back end selling has helped boost
sales for both online businesses and land bound
companies.
If the customer is happy with the initial product that
was purchased, he’ll logically assume that the
online company is offering quality products
and will come back again.
The normal technique with back end selling is to
make the customer aware of other products, as these
products can cater to other needs that the customer
may have. When the customer becomes aware of
the second or back end products, he will look into
it and may make a purchase.
The technique of back end selling has been both
known and proven to be very powerful in augmenting
the income of many companies.
Therefore, back end selling has made hundreds of
online companies flourish and expand. If you use it
correctly, it can work very well with affiliate marketing.
Affiliate marketing will attract many new customers
and lead to the initial sale, while back end
selling will build loyalty among the buyers.
To put it in other terms, back end selling is a major
ingredient in creating a winning formula in
affiliate marketing.
Each and every affiliate should look into the
financial promise of back end selling when it’s
coupled with affiliate marketing. The two of
these can make the affiliate earn an amazing amount
of income.
The Pros and Cons of Video Blogging
November 26, 2007
Video blogging has a lot of advantages over text-based blogging, and it is little wonder that this new technology is catching on all over the globe. Video blogs very effectively grab the attention of web surfers, and people are much more likely to become excited
about the dynamic content of a video blog than they are likely to find a written posting very thrilling. The more enthusiastic viewers are about a site, the quicker the word of mouth spreads, and the more traffic the site will get.
Of course, there are plenty of disadvantages to video blogging as well. Hosting a v-blog requires quite a bit of server space, which can make it difficult to get started. It takes more time to process and upload a video file than it does to dash off a quick bit of text, which means that running and updating a video blog can be quite a bit of work. In addition, web surfers sometimes grow frustrated with the slow loading times of the files on many video blogs. Whether you opt for a video blog or not depends on what kind of subject matter you want to cover, and how much time you can devote to video blogging. Before you decide to pursue a video blog, consider if there is an easier way for you to get your message across.
